Past Micro Events

Women’s Leadership Conference of Southern Oregon (WLCofSO) provides valuable mini workshops throughout the year, in addition to our annual one-day conference, to support the advancement of local leadership and provide networking opportunities. Members of our Rogue Valley community share their expertise at our WLCofSO Micro Events through engaging panel discussions, speaker presentations, and inspirational story-telling.

EMPOWERING WOMEN TO PROPEL FORWARD THROUGH CONNECTION, INCLUSION AND SUPPORT

What is the recipe for achieving optimum success? As women, what barriers hold us back? Our speaker, Andrea Berryman Childreth, will share her story of shame, stigma and exclusion and how she harnessed connection and inclusion to overcome adversity and cultivate community and change.


 

EMBRACING CHANGE- RESILIENCY ON A PERSONAL, PROFESSIONAL AND REGIONAL LEVEL

The COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with the devastating wildfires in our region, has created a unique situation: turning the status quo on its edge. When faced with change, successful leaders are flexible enough to develop and adapt. The resiliency to adapt to change is more important than ever before.

CREATIVE AND VOCATIONAL WELL-BEING: A PANEL DISCUSSION

Join us as we celebrate International Women’s Day with a panel discussion featuring five women who are making a difference through their work in the world. Representing a range of fields and experience, they will share about their creativity, their passions, and how they take care of themselves through it all. We are excited to hear from this inspiring group of women!


 

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING: THE POWER OF CONNECTION

During this event, we heard from Tiffany York-Mays, CEO of DISR Group about the importance of connection in communication, as well as, practice some techniques that can be used to enhance your ability to communicate in an intentional and meaningful way. There was opportunity for discussion, role play, and even a little bit of friendly competition!


WELL-BEING FOR LEADERS: THE MIND-BODY-SPIRIT CONNECTION

November 14, 2019

A team from the Wellness Center of La Clinica for an interactive event, Jillian Robinette and Grace Enriquez, shared information on the importance of connecting our minds, bodies, and spirits in our work and daily lives and will lead us in interactive activities on this theme. It was a special evening of fun, reflection, and interaction.


IT’S TIME FOR SOCIAL HOUR!

Join us as we kick off the new WLC year with a micro event at beautiful DANCIN Vineyards. Bring a friend, learn more about the micro events coming up, explore the possibility of joining a committee to help plan the 2020 conference, and meet the WLC Board members. Enjoy a great evening with appetizers, wine, and a gorgeous view of the Rogue Valley.


INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY:  A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN IN THE ARTS

March 8, 2019

Panel discussion facilitated by Renée Riley-Adams, featured women in the arts. Panelist Kamilah Long shared a beautiful reflection on how she navigates challenges through art and creativity. Panelists includedAlma Rosa Alvarez, Inger Nova Jorgensen, Kamilah Long, and Courtney Williams.


WOMEN WHO RAN: LESSONS LEARNED FROM WOMEN WHO RAN FOR OFFICE  

January 24th, 2019

During a panel discussion facilitated by Dee Anne Everson, Executive Director of United Way of Jackson County, panelists spoke about lessons they learned on the campaign trail and ways we could all be more engaged in issues that affect our community. Panelists included Jessica Gomez, Daria Land, Meadow Martell, Colleen Roberts, and Amy Thuren.


WOMEN IN THE WORKPLACE PANEL DISCUSSION

December 6th, 2018 

During a presentation and panel discussion we explored gender equality in leadership and women’s advancement in the workplace. Crystal Johnson shared research on these topics and her findings from surveys of attendees of the Women’s Leadership Conference 2018. Kathy Bryon, Executive Director of the Gordon Elwood Foundation, facilitated an interactive panel discussion with Brenda Johnson, CEO of La Clinica; Jeanne Stallman, Associate VP of Government Relations and Outreach at SOU; and Gina DuQuenne, Regional Senior Sales Manager for the Neuman Hotel Group.


SPONSOR CELEBRATION AND VOLUNTEER EVENT

Our seminal micro-event of the year was held at RoxyAnn Winery in celebration of our sponsors and the beginning of a new conference year! New information was shared about upcoming Micro Events and how to join a committee. The night included appetizers and drinks as well a short presentation which celebrated the sponsors who make our conference possible.


INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY and 2018 CONFERENCE KICK-OFF

We celebrated International Women’s Day together and joined Gilda Montenegro Fix who led us in a dance, Break the Chain, symbolizing women’s liberation and empowerment world-wide. Rhonda Klug shared the exciting details of this year’s conference and announced the keynote speakers and theme.
